Everybody's Talking About AI - Have You Tried It?
Here are some of my thoughts from a brief exploration...
Do you have thoughts on the new AI tech that has a lot of people talking recently?
Specifically tools like ChatGPT, Jasper, and even VidIQ’s new AI coach.
They can do many things but a few of the tasks they can do related to myself and other YouTubers/bloggers include writing Youtube scripts, blog posts, and titles.
The Think Media Youtube channel made a statement that creators who don’t jump on these tools will be left behind.
Before forming any conclusions of my own, I figured it was worth exploring what the new tools are and how they work.
Now, I have no problem using tools that make my life easier.
I love washing machines, ovens, refrigerators, sinks, beds, and of course, film lead retrievers. An automated Jobo machine would be nice for film processing too but that’s out of the budget…
So, I set out to see what AI was all about, but not for photography. Rather, I investigated for writing purposes.
This is because using AI for photography doesn’t interest me since it’s digital creation based. Even now as I try to use more digital to offset the cost of colour film, it doesn’t stack up to film because I enjoy the analogue process.
Did anyone use that AI generator to create a sleek new profile pic?
So, what would you think if I started using a robot to write these newsletters?
Don’t worry, I won’t! As a reader of many wonderfully original substacks, if I knew I was being written to by a robot, I’d unsubscribe faster than an alligator can come for that cute pup of yours in Florida.
Ok, maybe that’s a little dramatic. I was thinking of an analogy of things that are fast and it was the first thing that popped in!
My sister did live in Florida for a while and she does have a pup and they did have to be very careful when out for a walk. Can you believe we went swimming in a blue hole spring where the next week they found gators in?! I don’t want to think about it actually…
AI is to Creatives what Mass Agriculture is to Homesteading
There is a general comparison I thought about making and you can tell me if it makes sense to you. This will work for any type of craft. Also, I caveat this with the "in the UK/US" tag because this is what I am familiar with.
