February has been a fun month! We’ve had a little more news than last month, I’ve done quite a few videos, and spring is on the horizon…

Frugal Film Project 2024
My white Holga GCFN broke my heart this month…it was an older camera so I wasn’t surprised but it didn’t make it hurt any less. Good thing though that I have a backup! It’s the same camera just newer so hopefully, this one lasts a bit longer.
The shutter stuck in bulb mode so most of the images turned out overexposed. However, a couple made it in okay and I enjoyed how they came out!
I used the splitzer from @analogue.katya on the Holga for these images. Check out her shop here:
The video will be live March 3rd so stay tuned!
Rolleiflex Review Progress
I developed a bunch of color film I had shot on the Rolleiflex and loved the results. Lomo Metropolis and 800 CN look awesome in the snowy scenes we’ve had here this winter.
Maple Syrup Making
My parents decided they wanted to become maple syrup producers this winter…so I’ve been documenting their progress on film and instant film! It’s been a lot of fun and I’ve also been helping them with the work.
There’s a little sugarbush (basically a bunch of maple trees together in one area) in their woods, so we tapped a few trees, set up the buckets, collected sap, etc.
They’ve been boiling it off and got the first batch made!! Apparently, it’s a 40 to 1 ratio, meaning it takes about 40 gallons of sap to make 1 gallon of syrup.
It’s been super cool since I LOVE maple anything and it’s a big part of the winter culture here in New England/New Hampshire. I might make a little zine out of it someday!
Long Exposures with the MIA 6x6 Pinhole Camera on Rollei 25
I’ve been wanting to break out the pinhole camera more because I love the look so much. So I finally developed a roll of Rollei 25, shot in January.
The results were super cool and I’m working on a video for it! But I’ll share an example here.
This was a really long exposure over a couple of hours to factor in for the reciprocity failure that comes with doing long exposures with certain black and white films.
There were no directions I could find for Rollei 25 so I found the closest film to it (Pan F 50) and approximated the exposure time from there.
THE END
So, how was your February and what are you looking forward to in March??
That’s all for me today, see ya at the end of March!
Cheers,
Molly
Thank you for all of the news -- global and local! And if you need a maple syrup taste-tester -- I'm your man! Definitely love maple syrup! Can you develop film in maple syrup???? Hmmmmmmmm....
