Kodak ProImage 100 First Impressions
Youtube film photographers were ablaze with praise for ProImage 100 earlier this year and of course, I had to order myself a few rolls to see what the fuss was about.
And what a film to fuss about! This is the film that should have been Portra. That overhyped glorious emulsion. Those pale blue skies and warm oranges. Soft yet full greens.
Being a 100 speed film, the grain is minimal. I have not taken this out on a cloudy day yet to see how it would handle those conditions, but I have a feeling that this film shines in the sun. As do most films, specifically most 100 speed films.
My first roll was shot in the Nikon F3 and around little Venice while I was waiting for my train to Cardiff. The colourful bar barge and the waterways alongside the coffee airstream and benches made it a great subject for a sunny day film.
I love how this film came out and I can see why so many folks love it. It would absolutely be my go-to over Portra. And I believe its cheaper!
