Say Hello to LomoChrome Color '92 - Lomography's New Color Film
With extra images not shared anywhere else, yet!
A long time ago, in a galaxy very far away…
Well, ok, still in Cardiff but it feels like it was eons ago that Lomography first asked if I would be interested in helping them test a new color film.
What I’m about to share with you is exclusive…oooo…ahhhh….(kidding)
But it is…this is not the roll that I shared in my recent video about the new LomoChrome Color ‘92.
It goes back before that…
If you don’t know what I’m talking about or haven’t heard yet because you are living your best life off social media, Lomography recently released a new color film promising 35mm, 120, and even 110 formats.
As with most of their new product releases, they enlist the help of film photography youtubers, influencers, and passionate Lomographers to test this stuff out and spread the word to their thirsty analogue audiences.
Division in the Film “Community”
Anytime Lomography comes out with a “new” film, it’s divisive.
Some people love to hate on Lomography.
I love to love on them. :) Hmmm…no that doesn’t sound quite right…
Ehem, anyways…
With LomoChrome Color ‘92s’ release, the People cry, “THIS IS NOT A NEW FILM, IT’S REPACKAGED EXPIRED FILM”, “IT’S ORWO NC400”, “IT’S METROPOLIS”, “IT’S JUST LIKE XYZ FILM…” etc.
If you take a short journey over to the land of FB groups, you’ll find worse comments.
The hate is hard.
But so is the love.
For the amount of haters, there are more lovers. Lomography has encouraged and cultivated a community of photographers that is extremely creative and forgiving, generous with imperfection. They don’t look down upon newbies and images that aren’t perfectly sharp, etc. They encourage experimentation rather than put people down for funky results. And, they are just plain nice and fun.
And this is why you will find me in their corner.
In the never-ending personal pursuit of knowledge, I too would like to know where the film is being made, by who and how. But I understand why certain companies cannot or would not release this information.
And I don’t hold it against them.
It doesn’t matter too much to me these days if a small or medium business is rebranding another film that I could buy for less elsewhere. If I like the company, I’ll support them. If I don’t, I won’t. If I’m low on the budget that month, I’ll buy the cheapest option. A time of surplus? I’ll support whoever I like with what I can.
Soooooo enough gassing….let’s see the first ever roll of this LomoChrome Color ‘92 I had the pleasure of testing out.
LomoChrome Color ‘92 First Test Roll
This is my favorite shot on the roll. The man behind the cloud of vape smoke was okay with me taking a photo of him smoking so I snapped this one. I rarely intend to go out and “find” street portraits but if it happens spontaneously and feels right and the other person says yes, then I take the opportunity.
This shot was around Christmas time as you can tell with the Nativity set. It was a moving set, almost like a puppet show but with automatic puppets.
You can see in the next two shots the difference on the same subject, but one in sun and one in shade. In shade, this film is pretty blue. However, usual daylight tones return in the sun.
That’s all Substack has allowed me for space this week! The photo files must be larger than usual.
Hope you enjoyed a private look at my first test roll of LomoChrome Color ‘92! I didn’t include these images in my video below, so please let me know your thoughts on them.
I really like the new film in the sun. Shooting this again, I would either avoid cloudy days or overexpose or perhaps use flash.
It’s great to see Lomography continuing with new items as it keeps the excitement alive for film photography when there is innovation and progress in the industry. Combined with other movements toward modern tools like scanners, auto-processors for developing, cameras, etc., it means there’s a future for film. Let’s keep it going!
Until next time, hope you all have a lovely week!
Let me know what you are shooting :)
Thanks again for supporting the channel and newsletter with your subscription! It means a lot :)
Cheers,

These are great, especially the vape guy. They remind me a little of slide film cross-processed in C41, maybe because the colors are desaturated? I'm definitely going to try it
Oh and right now I'm shooting the new Fuji that's probably Kodak....it was in stock at my local Walmart :)
