It’s hard to wrap my head around the inevitable start of October tomorrow. Autumn is blasting by as usual and I’m trying to hang on to each moment for as long as possible.
September has been one of my favorite months of 2024. I travelled to Barcelona (Spain) and Split (Croatia), taking three cameras with me and finishing about 15 rolls of film in a little over two weeks. It was an amazing trip but as things go, highs often are followed by lulls or lows and in my case, a very low week where I had trouble getting off the couch. I picked up a virus on my way back home, thank you airplane travel!
However, I’m on the mend now and am excited to get back outside to shoot as Holga Week will be here in a couple of days!! But also I have FPP monster and color film to shoot too!
So, let’s get into our monthly headlines from the film photography industry/community and see what else has been happening.
HEADLINES

Rollei 35AF Reviews Trickle Out
In a few words, this is the impression I’ve got from watching the few reviews that have come out so far about the Rollei 35AF: Ergonomics Aren’t Great But Photos Are Nice.
These are the videos I watched:
User experience is so important to film photographers and it doesn’t seem like it’s an amazing experience with the Rollei 35 AF. However, users have reported the photos to be amazing and I do agree with this from what I’ve seen.
Other news:

FILM UPDATES
In September, I published a couple more videos that had been finished before my trip. One on travelling with film, some tips, and also what gear and film I was planning on bringing to Spain and Croatia.
Last minute, I swapped out the Nikon FM2n for the Holga GCFN. I am the WORST when it comes to making decisions on which film cameras to take anywhere, let alone a longer holiday.
Anyways, before heading back to the US, I dropped my film off at Carmencita Film Lab and within a week, I had the results back.
One roll escaped me though and it was one of the more important ones! The one I used in the Flic Film Double Shot camera on the trip. I meant to have that review done but now it will have to wait a couple more weeks. It was so fun shooting that camera though. 72 frames can feel practically limitless at times!
What did come back though, I was very happy with and looking forward to sharing more of soon! Here are a few for now:

Alrighty, I think that’s it for this month’s newsletter! Let me know how your September was and what you are looking forward to in October. Are you participating in Holga Week??
Cheers,

So happy to read you ! I discovered the Holga with your last video and I definitely wanna try it. Thank you for all the news :D
Very cool! I have the original Rollei 35s. It's an amazing camera and along with my Rolleiflex 2.8, I plan to be buried with it! Holga is getting a lot of resurgence lately. I do love my old Holga 120 and 35. You've inspired me to pick it up!
